Outstanding Faculty Advisor Award
The Outstanding Faculty Advisor Award recognizes a faculty member who has had a positive influence on students through academic advising. The award recipient will receive a $1200 cash stipend and be recognized at Fall Conference in addition to having his/her picture and award citation posted in the Kennedy Library. One faculty member will be recognized annually.
Faculty, staff, and current students are eligible to nominate faculty for this award. However, at least one letter must come from a current student, and no self-nominations are recognized.
Outstanding Faculty Advisor 2008-2009: Curtis Illingworth
Curtis Illingworth is a Lecturer in the Architecture Department , College of Architecture. His collegues and students had the following to say when nominating him for the prestigious award:
"Curt represents an excellent example of what faculty advisors should be. I fully support his nomination for this important honor."
"Curt has been a long-time leader of the group of faculty advisors who provide guidance to students in the BArch program. He is knowledgeable, reasonable, and compassionate, and he probably knows more about how we can help students navigate the institution than anyone else in the Architecture Department."
"Over the past couple of years, I have had the great pleasure of attending multiple classes under the guidance of Curtis, and I have never been disappointed. I have seen first had the attention that is given to his work, and believe that this superior level of effort and skill qualifies him for this prestigious recognition. I know that he has gone beyond his callings in both the class room and advisory roles, and do not begin to expect anything short of this is his future rolls in this institution."
"Students seem to relate well to his friendly, open and down-to-earth style of advising. They also know that they will get the correct information they seek. His positive, welcoming attitude towards his advisees is well known among students, who line up outside the Architecture Faculty Advising Center to meet with him."
